Toronto FC defeat New England 3-1
Paul Attfield
So much for Toronto FC's scoring woes at home. After failing to score more than a solitary goal – if that – through the first six contests of the season at BMO Field, the Reds pumped three goals past Matt Reis in the New England Revolution net Saturday as the home side ran out 3-1 winners, the first time they've scored that many in front of their own fans since last October.

Guevara strikes twice as Toronto FC attack comes alive
Midfielder's pair leads Toronto past Revolution
Daniel Girard
Before the game, Toronto FC coach Chris Cummins told Honduran midfielder Amado Guevara that if he scored two goals the boss's next pre-game talk would be in Spanish.
In the 70th minute, just seconds after his long free kick found the back of the net to give the home side some insurance in a 3-1 victory over the New England Revolution, a smiling Guevara jogged over to the TFC bench to remind the coach of his promise.

BMO offensive fires TFC into first
Ryan Johnston
TORONTO -- After a week of answering questions over why the team is unable to score at BMO Field, Toronto FC put the debate to rest with a 3-1 win over the visiting New England Revolution.
Amado Guevara delivered book-end goals to a Dwayne De Rosario effort and increased his team-leading tally to five on the year. The decisive score line also sees Toronto into top spot in the Eastern standings.

TFC's offensive Revolution
Finally finds scoring touch at home in win
LANCE HORNBY (lance.hornby@sunmedia.ca)
You say you want a Revolution?
Toronto FC needed a win at home to stay in the first-place hunt and to score more than once and treated 20,478 at BMO Field to all three yesterday in a 3-1 win, its first Major League Soccer victory over the New England Revolution.
"We've been criticized of late and we've criticized ourselves," coach Chris Cummins said as Toronto enjoyed its biggest offensive burst at BMO since late last season. "We've created a lot of chances and not been putting them away. I'm pleased for the fans who deserved to see a few goals."

One for the aged
Ryan Johnston
In England this year, a 35-year-old Ryan Giggs defied age and logic to win the Players' Player of the Year award (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/manutd/5330731/Why-Ryan-Giggs-feels-this-season-is-the-best-yet.html) in a league defined by its young talent. To boot, the Welshman earned the honour on a team that boasts a 24-year-old winger who has the ability to draw 'ooohs & aaahs' on an off night.
Across the pond at BMO Field on Saturday, a 33-year-old Amado Guevara benefited from the play of a 34-year-old Danny Dichio to beat a New England team (http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/2009/05/23/toronto_fc_beat_new_england/) that fielded a pair of centre backs who combined did not match the math of the aforementioned TFC players.

Guevara leads TFC to big victory over New England
1st win in May for Toronto
Amado Guevara scored twice and Dwayne De Rosario posted the eventual winner as Toronto FC beat the injury-ravaged New England Revolution 3-1 in MLS action Saturday afternoon at BMO Field.
It was the club's first-ever victory over the Revolution and its first win in May.
Toronto (4-3-4) moves temporarily into first place in the Eastern Conference, pending later results this weekend.

Toronto FC's Dichio shows his creative side
Aging Englishman combining playmaking with brute force

And the old warrior shall lead them.
Toronto FC broke out of its scoring slump with a convincing 3-1 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday evening, marking the first time the Canadian club has bagged that many goals in a game before the hometown fans since last October.

Guevara's goals put Cummins to test
Midfielder leads strong offensive showing for TFC
By Mark Polishuk / MLSnet.com Staff
TORONTO -- After scoring his second goal of the game on Saturday against New England, midfielder Amado Guevara rushed towards the Toronto FC bench and opened and closed his hand to simulate someone talking. This unusual celebration was explained after the game by TFC interim head coach Chris Cummins. Guevara's gesture was the result of a promise made by Cummins before the match that might result in the coach looking for a language teacher.

According to Dichio, someone from Four Four Two (assume that's what he means by 442) was at the game and was "gobsmacked" by the atmosphere!

So, SSG looked pretty good, but any guesses why they only show her body from 1 angle in every pic? My money is on disfiguring scar

Oh, ya, the game. Just cause we finished doesn't make that a great performance. 2nd half was, but the chances we gave up in the first half... it could have easilly been 3-1 NE at the half. Hope we don't see that kind of lack of co-ordination from the backline again

I talked with the FourFourTwo journalist before the game. He was doing a tour of the pubs (sans beverage) before the match for his story. He seemed like a real nice guy. He said he loved what he saw of Toronto. Although he seemed a bit shocked that it was "so nice here", I think he was slightly disappointed that there wasn't more of a pre-game "atmosphere" (just people drinking).

HOW COME ONLY SIX PICS OF THE SSG?!! :mad5:

Garth Woolsey chimes in today on his opinion (http://www.thestar.com/columnists/article/639433) of the plastic turf at BMO Field (among other opinions).

The manufacturers of FieldTurf use their installation at BMO Field as one of their stronger selling points but Toronto FC coaches and players clearly prefer to get off the artificial surface and on to real grass whenever possible. It is what it is, though, and whining about it does no good. If used properly, might it not actually amount to a real home-field advantage?

you know I just realized something...

for all our complaints about not scoring enough goals... Chad Barrett missing shots... shots hitting the post by others.... TFC is third in the league in scoring (per game average).

So as much as we complain about low scoring games and needing a striker, we are considered a high scoring team by MLS standards.

How many goals have we scored on road compare to home games?

How many goals have we scored on road compare to home games?

7 goals at home in 7 games

Right... we need a DP... a new center back... a new striker...

O.. just a minute... we won the game, are tied for first place in the east on points, and are third in league scoring per game...

Never Mind!

We are ok... be happy :).

Pity poor Newcastle :(
