Kc and Chivas nil-nil in the 52nd minite. I think a draw here is best case as it'll leave us a point up on KC and keeps Chivas from running away with it as I'd like to see us in the running for tops in the league near the end of the season.
Houston up 2-0 on San Jose just past half.
If Jose losses they'll drop to 1-6-2. Enjoy your sophomore blues boys.

Casey just nearly scored on the header. The Sounders announcer just said it was one of the most amazing saves he'd ever seen in this life when in reality it was right at him.

Dallas commentators:

"The LA Galaxy are celebrating Father's Day all year...with tie after tie after tie after tie!"

Lame, but so, so true. :D

EDIT: Another gem -- Magee got a yellow for Dissent. "That's another word he didn't learn in church."

Oh my god the analyst for Sounders FC is Ty Keough. If anyone reads about him and Jack Edwards (Bruins announcer) doing our coverage of the 2002 World Cup you'll understand. Guess I'll be turning the speakers down now in the 2nd half.

How many ties can this league have?

Better than they solve every tie with penalties, which is good -- if a result is absolutely necessary.

This is why whoever is bold enough to move towards a more attack minded lineup will be rewarded.

this league will always have more ties for 2 reasons:

1) The salary cap: In the EPL or La Liga its no wonder the likes of Man U and Barca consistently beat their opponents. They spend millions more on players.

2) The Superdraft: When Man U and Chelsea finish atop the table, stoke city and WBA do not get the gift of the top draft pick, they get relegated. The reward the weaker team system (With high draft picks) of the MLS will keep the league even. Look at the NHL the powerhouses of today were the last place, first draft teams of 2004. Its how Pitsburgh got Crosby, Washington Ovechkin and Chicago Kane and Toewes. If in 2004 Wolverhampton got first draft pick and selected Wayne Rooney, they would be a more competitive team. Instead all the great 2004 prospects went to about 5 teams.

In a sense while it does appear to reward losing, it brings greater evenness and more competition. It's a saner way financially, but can be boring. But at least we always have a shot -- we don't have to wait until a dynasty falls before we try to scramble to fill it.

i'm wonderin if we should actually hope for a Chicago win against New York tomorrow.
some might say a tie is best... but i think Chicago will be around all season, and maybe it would be better to let New York drift away rather than stick around.

well we want chi-town to lose today. that way we can still be top of the table, albeit tied with dc

I'd rather see New York lose and stay near the bottom, cuz when there are too many teams fighting for playoff spots it'll make our work harder.

Or at least, a tie. We would then be tied with Chicago and DC, and NY would still be 2 wins back.

I think a New York win is probably the worst scenario.... then New York is nipping at our heels.
