As I understand it all MLS teams are allowed 20 senior players and 4 developmental players on the roster. Does that mean that TFC has 20 players to choose from on any given match day? Not 24?

No, a MLS team can makeup their 18 man game roster from any of the players on the 24 man roster. The roster can be 18-20 players on senior contracts and the rest on dev. ones.

Toronto currently is in a situation where they ony have 23 payers signed and two players are not available due to a injury and a visa issue, so the Reds really ony have 21 available players on any given day and you could take that down to 20 when you consider they have three goalies currently on the roster.

I thought it was three players that were not available.....

32 Emmanuel Gomez (http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/players/bio.jsp?team=t280&player=gomez_e&playerId=gom174981&statType=current)
17 O'Brian White (http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/players/bio.jsp?team=t280&player=white_o&playerId=whi638312&statType=current) (injury)
22 Amadou Sanyang (http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/players/bio.jsp?team=t280&player=sanyang_a&playerId=san771006&statType=current)

Please correct me if I'm wrong..

Thanks man, i assumed he hasn't played yet, because he was having issues with his visa as well.

As far as I know, no one is having visa issues. Sanyang hasn't played yet because he hasn't turned 18 (long story because we have Fuad-omatic who's 17 but it has to do with international transfer certificates).

It is my understanding that the Canadian government will not issue a visa to a African national who is minor.

Not the problem...Sanyang is here, and has played with the academy. His transfer cannot be effected until his eighteenth birthday, August 1.

Edit: He may indeed need a valid contract, as opposed to the promise of one, to get the visa he'll need as a pro athlete, so...

So then it's not really a visa "problem" as it is just waiting for one, it just happens to be taking a long time, not due to bureaucracy but just because he has to turn 18. But I know he's been here for a while and training with TFC.

Gomez can play as he is already 18.

He's dressed as a sub for atleast one MLS game this year - was it in DC? - and was also one the bench for one of (or maybe both?) Canada Cup games.

Isn't it a FIFA ruling that U18 players cannot play outside their domestic leagues?

Gomez has been on the bench for 6 MLS games, and both NCC games.

The 6 games are:
KC (March 21)
Columbus (March 28)
Seattle (April 4)
Chivas USA (April 22)
KC (April 26)
Chicago (May 16)

That is the most reasonable answer thus far, if this was google/yahoo answers this would be on top :D
