They both where hair bandanas, and they both can't buy a goal. Seriously is Pablo Vitti going to be this years Andrea Lombardo or what? I think it is time we send him back to Argentina and find someone else for less money to take his place. :scarf:

LOL

Seriously the two are light years apart in skill.

I like him as a player, but I would say Barrett is the 'Lombardo' of this team.

Umm actually...

Chad Barrett = Andrea Lombardo

Both them have great work ethic, but they just can't finish.

Vitti's technique is great, but his finishing so far has sucked!

I can't believe he tried to make a valid point and the first thing he compares is their headgear.

Barrett scored goals last year after he joined Toronto. Lombardo as far as I know did not score a goal in a TFC game, he scored a goal or two with the development team, and perhaps for York, but not for a TFC game that counted in the standings.

So I say Barrett is better than Lombardo, although far to erratic. Vitti does have good technique per say, but he is not a midfielder, so he is being paid to score. 0 goals so far, so I say he is closer to Andrea Lombardo. I say bring back Andrea for less money and give him a second chance to compete with Barrett! Perhaps with a better midfield he'd do better.

But quite seriously, I think it is time to let Ibrahim have a go? Why haven't they given him a chance to play up front? I remember his first goal last season, he seemed to possess the poise required to be a decent goal scorer. It could not hurt, let him play forward in the next Nutrilite Game and go from there.

pablo vitti is steven van zandt's kid.... just look..

the headbands are clearly a signal to steven that he knows his lineage and wants to see his dad again

Lombardo wasnt all that bad he didnt score but yet again he was a young player on a shite squad, and didnt play all that much. But by no means am I saying he is TFC quality. Vitti can do other things like hold the ball & dribble. Barrett is definetely the teams Lombardo.

Vitti may not have scored yet, but he has set up a lot of plays.

Lombardo was also a 20 year old kid with no pro experience thrown onto an expansion team and was expected to perform miracles.

He was also only getting paid what, 13000 dollars.

He's not Barrett or Vitti. Both of whom have ample pro experience to be able to bury some of the chances they've been given.

Vitti has set up alot of plays and he can dribble around players. He just has had bad luck and hasnt got it in the net yet.

Bottom line is TFC is better with Vitti in the lineup than without him. That could never be said with Lombardo

Vitti doesn't surprise me. Look up his shot totals and I bet you're they're pretty low compared to Barrett and DeRo.

He doesn't play as a forward, he plays as a link-up man 90% of the time.

I wonder if the all the pressure from crumbling on the world stage for Argentina at the U21s a few years ago as a striker (they perma-benched him after that and the "he's better than Messi comments ended) shot his confidence upfront.

Maybe he's psychologically damaged goods; that much pressure, before a whole nation? He crumbles and spends the next four years playing 20 yards from the box most of the time? 2+2= can't score?

Too much talent to waste playing him as a straight mid. They have to work this shit out, if it's workable, by figuring out what's up with the kid. He has insane ball skills, maybe the best in the league, and if they can't figure out how to teach him to play like a predatory striker again, like when he was a kid, they're just wasting time.

Vitti needs to score soon or he might take the same path as Ricketts and wait almost all year to score a pair and then sit on the bench next season.

Vitti has great skill no question and Andrea Lombardo doesnt have enough skill to sit in the stands let alone come back to play for TFC.

Barret needs about 5 perfect chances a game to score 1 goal.

Agree with this diagnosis. Not sure we have the ideal setup for this suggested fix. Who is "they" that are going to help him? Only Guevara and Velez speak spanish here...

I think Vitti plays nice with Dichio.

I also notice that when DeRo is on the pitch, we don't see much of Vitti. (imo)

It's too bad we only saw about 15 minutes of what could have been an interesting strike partnership of our two spanish speaking forwards. That could have been the cure to goal drought.

If Vitti doesn't pot a couple goals or contribute in some other manner significantly over the next 5 games I think it'd be fair to call the Argentinian experiment a failure and send him home.

Comparing Vitti to lombardo has got to be one of the least informed and most inane suggestions this site has ever seen. This is not only unproductive, but annoying.
This thread should be terminated immediately.
