Saturday night on Sportsnet...

Sportsnet Ontario = 43,000
Sportsnet Pacific = 17,000
Total audience = 60,000

Going up against Pittsburgh/Washington on CBC (1,300,000) and Nascar on TSN (175,000) and only being in two of four regions - that's not too bad...

Saturday night is a traditional hockey night. There is no shame in this numbers. We were up against tough competition.

But they missed a great game.

Too bad they don't play very well when CBC has the NHL playoffs leading in. It would attract so many more viewers.

Hopefully we'll regularly break 100k once the playoffs (bball and hockey) are over

It's the RPB complaint thread in television form.
Nascarguy takes all the abuse.

To the shock of no one. I remember watching NASCAR as a kid. Man was that boring.

Nascar ratings on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon are often in the 350,000-500,000 range...

Nascar on TV is far more popular than most in Toronto think it is, or want to admit it is...

Please, PLEASE do not use Nascar as a comparison to TFC in regards to good or bad ratings... Auto racing is popular all across the nation, and Nascar has probably the slickest, and most modern broadcast in pro-sports...

^ Agreed. NASCAR is a very popular sport and it's practically made for tv with the oval circuits and all the in-car footage.

It would be great to see TFC and MLS games in general hitting those sort of numbers but 60,000 for a game going up against NHL playoffs is a reasonable showing. We also need to remember that MLS is still a young league. These numbers will grow with time.

I am impressed, our ratings have definitely gone up. A movement a suppose is due to our own coverage of the games rather than using the away coverage (which was always brutal).

IIRC, didn't we top 250,000 recently for a Saturday game on CBC? That kind of response is excellent and rivals many baseball and CFL telecasts. As for the smaller Sportsnet number, it's not unlike what the Raptors have pulled on some nights.

Anyone have any idea about audience numbers for TFC's 'Peut-Etre Productions' on Gol TV? The game telecasts they say are on free view but Rogers says Nnuh Uhh?

Would also love to know what sort of audiences are recorded for other telecasts on soccer-specific stations like Fox Sports World or Gol, or TLN's soccer telecasts.

i dont understand the popularity of Nascar... but to each his own, I guess.
i also don't understand the popularity of golf and curling on TV ;) both good games to play, but I cant sit and watch em.
