View Full Version : Derby Game "FLAGS FLAGS FLAGS"

i know we have tried this many times..... but honestly, big derby game against montreal, will be a huge six points in the standings if we win. LETS FUCKING BRING THE FLAGS OUT.

watching the DC game last night, their support really has the flags down pat, probably the best in the MLS for flags. we KNOW we are the loudest, best, and most organized supporters in the MLS http://209.85.62.26/html/emoticons/tongue.gif , SOOO lets fucking beat these guys in getting the Flag part down pat..for atleast one game.

so please, im asking everyone bring as many flags as they can for wenesday nights game against montreal, if u have more than one, bring them for your friends or for the guy standing next to you. already me and my buddies are making two big 8ft flags to add to the one we already have for wenesdays game.

i think as soon as the national anthems done we should get these things waiving for atleast a solid ten minutes if we can.

i posted this on Usector forum also.

Opinions?

I back this thread 100%! Bring flags and banners! If you don't have them, try to make one. It's pretty simple actually. So let's get the flags for this game!

As I read in a comment from the first video, they're just cheap plastic flags. Although it would be better than barely any flags, MLSE would never do it because they're cheap bastards! Maybe if we were owned by a really rich Russian man?

Flags should be brought every game, but their is that sense of "awww" when everyone has them for the Derby. This will be amazing if we can even get 30-40 flags spread out nicely.

Another thing is if you and your friends sit next to each other, spread out for after the anthem so the flags arent bunched. Trust me on this, the affect will be well worth it.

exactly even Usector has a bunch that people bought, WHERE ARE THEY!?, we always say were gonna do this (bringing all our flags) but we never do. LETS MAKE THE INNITIATIVE AND GET THIS DONE! for people who dont have flags and wanna help, u can just easily go to a fabric store (fabric land on dufferin and lawrence) get material, and sew it up at stitch master right in the same plaza. grab a pole at homedepot.

but ive seen so many different flags throughout the seasons here in the supporters section, BRING EM OUT, if u got more than one, share them!

yeah, except many are capes, scarves, massive hankerchiefs and various other "designations" to get them into non supporter sections. having said that I'll wave mine until security or the bast*rds behind me "kindly" remind me that I'm 5 rows away from actually being "allowed" to do so.
I would encourage others to do the same.

agree with you 10000%

for those who wanna make flags in the future:

Pole
= Home Depot

Material
= Fabric Land (right at dufferin and lawrence, in the plaza where shoeless joes is)

getting it stitched
= Stitch master, in the same plaza as fabric land, we just made our 3rd flag today there, the guy knows what hes doing, just lay the design out for him and he'll sticth it up, and tell him you want a 1inch sleve on one side for the pole.

back in season 1 I found a video out there in the internets... I would try to search high and low for this again so people can do their own flag poles.

Now unto more serious business:

If everyone could please look at Chivas nominee for goal of the week here:

http://web.mlsnet.com/sights/goal_of_the_week/

It is the Fitfth nominee

The above is a perfect example on how you should NOT wave a flag. In fact the entire flag is a big time FAIL. Thick cloth, short pole, no movement... let us not see this in the south end please. :D

If you have a large flag like more then 5ft, the best way to wave it is in a sideways figure 8, its easy to do and gives the best affect for viewers. Smaller flags the best thing is to do is circles or fast back and forth waving.

InTheCrowd
05-12-2009, 04:34 PM
I'll probably be bringing my red white checkered 3x5ft.

nick.mastro

yaa i remmeber seeing alot of flags in charelston. whoever has those flags, make sure to BRING THOSE. i also remmeber seeing flags on a march we had ( i think it was the last montreal game) big white and red solid color flags.

for those who dont have nooo flag at all/cant get one, you can always find those flag guys on the corners of major streets and buy a big Ontario or Canadian flag. those would do just fine too.

InTheCrowd
05-12-2009, 06:23 PM
You can get Ontario flags, Canada flags, red and white checkered flags and other flags like these down at Spadina and College. There are so many flag stores who have every flag imaginable lol. Not pricy either.

This should be our daily annoucement tomorrow...

Whatever you do... do not let the wind just take over your flag during play AND don't do The poke the sky or swing it side to side like there is a Pinata in front of you... that is not the way to go :D

flatpicker

^ yup... pvc pole from a hardware store will do the trick.

Not sure how big those flags are... if they are the standard 3x5 then get a 5 or 6 foot length of pipe.
1/2 or 3/4 inch diameter should do the job.

I don't know if the flags at BMO have a sleeve on them, or if they are grommets.
Better keep that in mind.

Then buy the good flag inside and do the old switcheroo

^ ok then...

so, for anyone planning on bringing a pvc pole to the game and buying a flag there...
you will need to drill a couple of holes in the pipe first (about 3 feet apart, assuming that's how big the flag is).
And bring zip-ties to attach the flag to pole.
