Is it me or does it bug anyone else that we have given Dallas all their points for the year so far???

It bugs me too, Roogsy. On the other hand, we've given Chivas its only loss of the season, so I guess we can take some consolation in that.:D

This make me happy too! :scarf::flare::flare::scarf:

The other thing that I really like is that the energy drink team is one of only 3 teams to have played 8 games, and all they can manage is 13th overall :D

Anyone else see what I see? TFC is in that all-important Superliga spot:D
I'd not be sure how to feel if we had to play in that next year but I'd still hope we won it:scarf:

Found an error in the table, the top two American teams should have Champions League spots not just the 1st.

Found an error in the table, the top two American teams should have Champions League spots not just the 1st.

Actually, only the top team (Supporters' Shield winner) is guaranteed a spot in Champions League. The United States' Champions League spots are allocated as follows:

USA1: MLS Cup winner
USA2: MLS Supporters' Shield winner
USA3: MLS Cup runner-up
USA4: US Open Cup winner

In the event of overlap in a team's fortunes - i.e. the same team wins both the MLS Cup and the Supporters' Shield, or the Supporters Shield and the US Open Cup, for example - then the extra Champions League spot reverts to the second-best team in the MLS regular season standings. Unless a team occupies more than one spot above, or TFC wins any of the above honours, the runner-up in the MLS standings doesn't qualify for Champions League.

It's essentially the same qualification procedure that existed in 2007. I'm glad the league changed it back, as this year's format places less emphasis on divisional play.

From a VERY cursory glance at past seasons, I don't see that this change makes a big difference- the way points have played out, it hasn't flipped many playoff spots.

But we should get an intern to really crunch the numbers.
