De Rosario's return gives red-hot TFC a shot in the arm
Scarborough midfielder `excited' to be back in action after injury layoff
Daniel Girard

Dwayne De Rosario is back at work.
The Toronto FC star, who has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury, practised with the team for the first time in nearly two weeks yesterday and hopes to be ready to play tomorrow when the Columbus Crew comes to town.
"I'm excited to be back," he told reporters after the workout at BMO Field. "It's never good to be away."

DeRo in, Dichio out at TFC training

TORONTO -- Toronto FC midfielder Dwayne De Rosario returned to training Thursday while veteran striker Danny Dichio left early.
Dichio, who scored in Toronto's 1-0 win over Kansas City on Sunday, seemed to hurt a leg during a scrimmage.

The Crew’s all here
B.Rycroft

A hated rival is never an easy thing to come by. Conference rivals? Piece of cake. Regional rivals? Dime a dozen. Crosstown rivals? Rare, but too accessible to be any fun.
For two teams to aspire to any kind of hated status, they must endure years of hard fought battles, devastating eliminations and humiliations.

Or, in the case of Columbus, cops can Taser a fan and call it a day.

Cummins promises attacking football
Interim TFC coach
By Eric Koreen

John Carver brought Chris Cummins in to be his lead assistant with Toronto FC last May. So there is a temptation to paint Cummins, Carver's replacement as the head coach of the club, as Carver 2.0.
On the day he was officially named as the club's interim boss, Cummins said at least one thing to dispel that notion. He swears he will not allow Major League Soccer's officiating get to him.

I really hope Danny D is ok.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the currently fired up Dichio play with a healthy De Ro.

One more sleep until we finally get 3 points from the Crew.

Well this will be the first game I miss this year - I'm off to Tuscany tomorrow! Wine, cheese, wine.... Beautiful sunshine...

I hope TFC can get the victory they desperately need against The Crew. The beauty is; there is no way I'll hear or see the score, thus I can watch it 'live' when I return... Up the TFC!

BTW - I hope they play a 4-3-3: DeRosario - Dichio - Vitti... Guevara roaming behind them... Robinson - Cronin and then the back four. I think this could be a successful and winning side.

DD on the soccer show last night said he had a bruised Achilles after someone landed on it. He hopes to be training today and available for action vs. Columbus.

I am hoping he starts as we need the height against Columbus' central defenders

Anyone notice that Ben Raycroft's article included word for word copy of the Canadian Press article that's posted on the Sportsnet site.

It's the section under the DERO heading.

I didn't think a journalist was supposed to do that without giving credit. Am I mistaken?

Did Ben write the CP article, that is the question? If he didn't, he shouldn't have.

Anyone else notice in this article how Kansas were held scoreless by us after having gone 18 consequetive games in which they had scored at least 1 goal. Really makes our result all the more impressive.

It is not quite word for word, but you do bring up an interesting subject.

From Ben's article

Dwayne De Rosario returned to training Thursday while veteran striker Danny Dichio left early. Dichio seemed to hurt a leg during a scrimmage. “We just pulled him out as a precaution,” interim coach Chris Cummins said. De Rosario was back in action after missing two games with an injured hamstring. “We’ll see how he is in the morning with regards to playing on the weekend,” Cummins said.

From the CP copy on Sportsnet.ca

Toronto FC midfielder Dwayne De Rosario returned to training Thursday while veteran striker Danny Dichio left early.

Dichio, who scored in Toronto's 1-0 win over Kansas City on Sunday, seemed to hurt a leg during a scrimmage.

"I think Danny just got landed on during the game so we just pulled him out as a precaution," interim head coach Chris Cummins told reporters. "He's obviously seeing the medics this afternoon and we'll see how he is again in the morning."

De Rosario, however, was back in action after missing two games with an injured hamstring.

"He's done a full session. He's got through that. We'll see how he is in the morning with regards to playing on the weekend," Cummins said.

It brings up the issue of ripping off copy, but in reality news agency's have been known to rewrite wire reports, especially if they are not members of say CP.

There's more in the CP article than in Raycrofts paragraph.

No credit is on the CP article,, so I don't know who wrote it.
However, Raycrofts paragraph is an absolute cut and paste.

I used to work as a reporter for CP and am at another news agency now. If a newspaper is a subscriber to your news wire, it can do whatever it wishes with the copy, which includes running entire sections of a story without any credit.

Thanks for that. I was not aware of that.

No prob -- I should add that while this is a generally accepted practice, it causes no shortage of annoyance for the news agency reporter who originally writes a story to see it rehashed under someone else's name. But that's the nature of the beast.
