...according to the Washington Post's Steve Goff, whose accuracy is very high.

*Maybe a United-Real Madrid announcement next week? The ball, so to speak, is in Madrid's court. The other MLS team that might host Real during the two-game visit: Perhaps Toronto.

Why do they have to schedule this pointless shit right in the middle of the season?

That would be REDICULOUS. Provided we don't get embarrased anyways. If we don't have grass yet, I bet they put us in the dome with the grass again. I just wonder how many of the 55 000 would be TFC fans. My hunch is only between 30 000 and 40

I normally don't bother with the friendlies, but I would love to see RM play. Hope it's true. Maybe that's why temporary grass is coming in?

The reason they have to play this friendly is that they have already sold over 16,000 tickets due to the fact that all season ticket holders and some partial planners had them included in their package.

I think next year a mid-season friendly might go the way of the doe doe bird, I am really surprised at how much effort they are going to get a top club with the tickets sold, how much flack would they take if they did say play a side from the Championship etc.

Our stadium is not big enough to host the likes of Real Madrid - and I doubt they'd risk their players on our plastic pitch. But money talks, so maybe MLSE gave them a good enough offer.

Do you think this might be the type of game they might take to the Dome, if playing Real Madrid meant having to put in temp. real grass, would playing there make more sense to recover some of the cost? Do you think they could get 45,000-50,000 for such a game.

that woudl definitely be a SkyDome game.

they would have to get real grass. I can't see a side that big wanting to play on the fake stuff. but I think they could make enough money off tickets to cover the install.

As long as they don't bring Pepe....I don't want one of our guys to get stepped on.

i know BMO is our ground, but I still think it would be cool to see TFC in Skydome with 50000 fans... even if many of those fans are there for Real Madrid. i'd like to hear what it would sound like to have chants going on for TFC under the dome and just experience TFC on a grander stage.

Question:

Whoever TFC brings in for the friendly, if you're also a supporter of the other team (ex. Real Madrid) will you be cheering for them or TFC?

Why do they have to schedule this pointless shit right in the middle of the season? Why not, if they can do it in a gap. We have a 12-day gap in June, and a 14-day gap in July. If they can schedule a Canada Day international friendly, it is 4 days after their previous game in Salt Lake, and still gives them 10 days to rest until the next game in San Jose.

When there are gaps this big in the schedule, isn't a game in the middle a good thing?

I would like to say I'd be cheering for TFC but if Liverpool was in town, I don't know. I guess I would cheer on TFC because they are the obvious underdogs.

Real Madrid would not be playing thier starting squad..
so to me it would not really matter..
If real madrid came to town and played thier starters and lost how would that look..
from a REDS point of view we rule from REAL's point of view we have placed ourself in thier level..
