I get all excited until I remember that Chicago have only played 6 games, DC United have only played 6 games, New England Revolution have only played 5 games and Columbus have only played 6 games.

Who cares?

I just looked at the standings tonight and that's where we are!

If we're not there again in the future it won't be the end of the world, but I believe this is the first time we've been there, so I think it's worth noting :D

New England should only be allowed to play 5 game. 6 goals in 35 minutes? c'mon.

so what if other East teams have played fewer games?
That just puts the pressure on them... they better win those "games in hand"... at least we've got these 11 pts on the board.
games in hand only mean something if you win em :)

This is aewsome. We're top of the league
Let's see.

With Carver on the sidelines we were 1-2-2 or 5 out of 15 points (33%) and near the bottom of the division.

without Carver on the sidleines we are 2-0-0 or 6 out 6 points (100%) and on top of the division.

Man oh man if u guys only listened to me and help push Carver out earlier who knows where we would be or even could have been last season.:hump:

I always said we have some talented palyers here (i.e Vitti) and if you have the right coach they will excel. How can they excel if the Coach (Carver ) never used them? a right sytem and a knowledgeable coach is what this team was missing last season and the first 5 games this season. I've said it all along and the last 2 games (WINS) prove it.:yum:

I have confifence in this team and the rest of the season looks bright now that our sore spot is gone.
Forza TFC!

The games coming up next weekend are Western against Eastern teams. Seattle vs Chicago is going to be one hell of a game. We need the West to do us some favors so we can keept 1st place. I'll be chearing for all western teams, that's for sure.

I am confident that saturday will be TFC's first victory ever over Columbus. God that would be sweet.

Giambac, let's not turn every thread into a "shit on Carver" thread. The point is made and he's gone now. Time to move forward.

Enjoy being on top and leave it at that!

+1....but unfortunately it falls upon deaf ears Jack.

Anyway, those games in hand are games that have to be won and as we all know....everyone beats everyone in MLS!

You would be shocked mate, Mo might actually know who Giambac is.

He does glimpse the board once in awhile or has someone from the club inform him etc

We are in first today. Carpe Diem, my friend. If you live only with the "what ifs?" you'll never enjoy it!

Sure...we could win the championship, but next year another team will! Enjoy our first time ever at the top of the table! If we don't hold onto it, I'm not going to cry, but it's nice to see on a Monday morning.

Yes, but if we treat the next game against these teams as their game in hand, and win or tie them, and also do as well as them until we meet, we keep in front of them.

To me, goal differential is always the long-term teller for soccer teams, with respect to early standards. It might be still even early for that, but by the end of may, goal differential will be a pretty good predictor of your playoff contenders.
