Pablo Vitti!!!:)

Today's game really showed how good Vitti is, him and Danny Dichio seam to have good thing going on here and on todays performance Vitti will be scoring alot of goals for TFC.

Pablo should have scored 3 or 4 goals today, a great finish on the offside goal pitty he was booked for taking his shirt off.:D

Yeah, he looked off his game in the first half, but second half he really came into it. Looked determined that he would score in the second half and showed some great play at times.

Yes, the first half he had some glaring turnovers and not so great movement, but the second half was much brighter.

Some yobs near me decided that their job for the game was to give Vitti stick through that very second half when he was playing well.

Vitti demonstrated what he's capable of, he turns 24 in july and just getting started in MLS. Things are looking good with him, .... with those chances, the goals will come.

He was in my end in the first half, and his touch and game was off, but he did great in the second, he could be the best Second Striker in the MLS. Clearly he needs to prove that he can do that consistently. His miss was by inches, as was the offside, at least from my vantage point. It was good to see the passion when he though he had scored the first goal.

Vitti always hustles. I think he is still getting used to Toronto, his teammates, and our plastic pitch. Now if only Cummins gives him the start every game, I would not count him out for 10 goals this season. He just needs one to get started.

What I liked was that the chances he missed he mostly created for himself.

After dribbling through the whole defense he tries to angle the right post as opposed to blindly hammering on net - he's quality.

Loved what I saw from Vitti.

Vitti was getting marked very well in the first half and I am not sure if he knew what to do lol.

It seemed that as soon as he got the ball he had 2-3 guys on him and he couldn't really go anywhere. During the second half he wasn't marked as much and I am not sure why the KC players stopped it. As soon as they laid off he played much better.

he has one level of effort (very high). he just loves to compete and doesn't seem to slow down .. even if calls go against him, he dusts himself off and gets back to work, rather than strolling around in disappointment.

He also has glue on his boots. Sometimes I'm amazed he still comes away with the ball in a battle.

It's a shocker to me a guy like this has been on the bench since the beginning of the seaosn. Particularly when the problem we had is that we were playing lack-luster. Since Vitti has been playing, the team's energy is up by a mile, it's no coincidence. I had goose bumps as he slashed through three defenders, too bad he didn't finish that one or the stadium erupts.

Anyhow, he will get his goal. He wants it bad!!! I don't care of Dero is back next week, you cannot sit this man. Somebody else has to sit.

The first long run he made, that would have blown the non-existent roof off BMO.

He just slid it by the goal .. it was agonizing, but so exciting.

It was as Craig Forrest likes to say a "World Class" run that needed finishing.

He was horrible in the first half, overplayed and didn't seem to have any motivation.

But oh man the second half was amazing.... I was cheering for that second chance he had where he nutmegged a guy and beat another. From my vantage point in 105 I couldn't see clearly but was cheering already thinking it was a goal.. too bad it didn't go in and looked a fool myself :D

This is probably the right assessment.

Man the guy was good in the second half today!

Also, coming off an injury (I still think he had something, note he dropped the knee brace a couple of games ago). Seems like his confidence is coming back and he has learned that the refs don't fall for dives (by TFC players anyway) so he's staying on his feet for the most part and keeping the play alive. The last thing to come back should be the final touch (I hope) as sometimes that's the hardest thing to recapture. If he can do that...well...WOW.

Maybe now some of you bastards will learn my Pablo Vitti song in Spanish :D

I'm still not convinced. He was definitely better in the second half after a poor firstand that would have been a briliant goal if it had gone in, but if Barrett had missed all the chances Vitti missed today, he'd be getting massive amounts of stick.

Put me in the Vitti bandwagon for now. I've been really positive about him since his arrival and especially so since he's getting regular playing time and putting the ball on net.

One thing that concerns me though is that he seems awfully selfish at times. If he's within 25 yards of the goal line he aint passing that ball. It's still early though and that could be chalked up to a lack of chemistry with the rest of the team.... still worrisome though.

jwfm1985

I would actually say the opposite. Maybe not as much last night, but definitely in the other games he was playing I found myself wishing he would take the chance rather than pass it off.

that's fair, but at least Barrett has scored a few for us. I'd also agree that if one of them has to be dropped for De Ro, it should be Barrett.

But I just don't think there should be such a big difference in people's perception of the two of them. The last two games the front 3 has looked great and sure Vitti's been a big part of that, but so has Barrett.

I'd be loathe to split the front 3 up, and given that De Ro's best position is attacking midfielder, to me 2+2= Guevara sits.

The best adjective I can think of for vitti's last 2 games, playing hard, creating chances, looking exciting but also frustrating and not quite convincing, and missing a bunch of chances, it's Barrettesque.

I get that people's patience with Barrett has snapped and it's going to take a few goals to get the benefit of the doubt again, but what exactly has Vitti done that's different, and when will people's patience with him snap?

I'll stop now, because this combined with what i wrote in the post game thread makes it seem like i have a man crush on Barrett, which isn't the case, i just think he's not quite getting a fair shake right now.

You're right. I can't count how many times over the past two years I've yelled something along the lines of "TAKE THE #$%&ing SHOT" so it's probably better to have someone that will do just that.

The things that Vitti did yesterday (the near miss and dribbling two defenders, keeping the ball and getting the shot off) are things that no one else on our team can do and Barrett would never be able to do. That's why I feel different about him. I love Barrett's tenacity and his wheels, but Vitti's skill level on the ball is way higher.

You know what though ... in fairness to Barrett, he's not shy to take on a defender. Not in the way that Vitti runs at the defense, but in the way that he was consistently taking it to the by-line, beating his defender, and delivering some dangerous back post crosses. He wasn't as clumsy yesterday with the ball at his foot then in earlier games.

For sure. I see some good things in Barrett, just not his finishing :p

If he could learn to cross a bit better, he could be quite dangerous from out there. I bet it's not a part of his game he's worked on as much in the past, but maybe he should start doing it more.

Vitti has some serious skills. The only question is why he hasn't found the back of the net yet? My suspicion is that he needed to adjust to MLS/Turf, he had a knee injury at the beginning, and it is only now that he is getting serious playing time. I expect we'll see some "gols" soon.

It seems to me that Argentinian players generally fall into two distinct groups.

There are the divers and whiners (Schelotto and Mascherano are two good examples).

Then there are the guys like Tevez who jump up when they are knocked down and try to get the ball back. From what I have seen of Vitti so far he is more like Tevez and that can only be a good thing.
