What's with all these "TFC needs to be more like..." threads haha
But to be fair if TFC being more like Canada means we'd have Edgar, Begovic, and De Guzman then I'll take it

TFC should play like CDN Men's team in last Gold cup and Brazil friendly.

I love it that peoples aspirations are so low in this city.

How about, TFC shuold start by playing simple fundametaly sound football, and built on that? Leave national comparisons alone.

so thats good news?:( now the national team players have no more
excuses..if they fail to peform at the Gold Cup..it will BE their fault not the managers..if it comes down to a success TFC squad or a success national team..i will pick TFC first as it has the better chance of
success in the long and short term.

I'd love for Canada to develop it's own "style" of football. I'm sure it would be very physical, with a very efficient, direct style of play. Kind of like the Germans, but with the physical aspect of English football.

Oh, and no diving.

We are primarily a hockey nation, no doubt. But I think it'd be cool to see some elements of Canadian hockey philosophy seep into how we play soccer as a country.

No hope? We did win the Gold Cup?

When TFC scores a goal as beautiful as that second goal please let me know, any team in the world would be hard pressed to put a move together that beautiful.

I don't mean literally executing hockey plays, haha.

I mean some of the same philosophies - really physical play, for example.

Maybe we can cycle the ball around the perimeter, when we go on power-plays! :D

I'm all for it. Personally, I'd really like to see more aggression on the pitch. And like Ben Knight mentioned in a recent article, let's stop concentrating on the finesse of our shots on goal - those hesitations are killing us. Instead, perhaps we should acknowledge that quantity has a quality of its own as well.

That won't get us anywhere in Concacaf sadly

O right...
like rosters with players of limited skill & ability who's job it is to come in for a few minutes each game and physically beat up the opposition

Sorry... I just couldn't resist ;)

If you mean having a "hard nosed" approach and a "never say die" attitude then I agree.

Unfortunately some of the subtleties (like when to play for a foul) are just not part of the "hockey psyche" but are part of the modern game of soccer.

TFC needs to watch the movie Swingers!!

Trent (http://www.moviemistakes.com/name1902): You know what you are? You're like a big bear with claws and with fangs...

Sue: ...big fucking teeth, man.

Trent (http://www.moviemistakes.com/name1902): Yeah... big fuckin' teeth on ya'. And she's just like this little bunny, who's just kinda cowering in the corner.

Sue: Shivering.

Trent (http://www.moviemistakes.com/name1902): Yeah, man just kinda... you know, you got these claws and you're staring at these claws and your thinking to yourself, and with these claws you're thinking, "How am I supposed to kill this bunny, how am I supposed to kill this bunny?"

Sue: And you're poking at it, you're poking at it...

Trent (http://www.moviemistakes.com/name1902): Yeah, you're not hurting it. You're just kinda gently batting the bunny around, you know what I mean? And the bunny's scared Mike, the bunny's scared of you, shivering.

Sue: And you got these fucking claws and these fangs...

Trent (http://www.moviemistakes.com/name1902): And you got these fucking claws and these fangs, man! And you're looking at your claws and you're looking at your fangs. And you're thinking to yourself, you don't know what to do, man. "I don't know how to kill the bunny." With *this* you don't know how to kill the bunny, do you know what I mean?
Sue: You're like a big bear, man.
