I'm just going though the organizer and
putting in the dates for next months TFC games.

WOW!

in May 2009 we have:
3 League games at home (Chicago, New England and Columbus)
2 League matches on the road (DC and Houston)
and 2 Canada Cup games at home (MTL and VAN)

http://web.mlsnet.com/schedule/season_print.jsp?team=t280

I can't think of another time in the history of the club with more action
packed into a single months. AND there's May-24 weekend, which isn't
totally fuckered by a game. We still have two uninterrupted days.

on the down side, we're got a stretch of 3+ weeks without a home game at the start of July.

at least it's the first day of a 3 day weekend. I hate when there's something
(game, wedding, anything) on Day 2 because it ruins the whole long weekend.
it means you can't do anything else, like go on a trip or camp or cottage etc.

edit: yes, there is a game on the long weekend, but see my above post

On other note, this stretch from 19 Apr to 16 May will be biggest challenge fitness wise.
8 games in 28 days

Let's see if Winsper pays off big time here. And expect some rotation of starting squad

I think Winsper has already paid off, but this will certainly be one big challenge for him.

hell.... that's going to be challenging for us too, and we aren't even playing!

we need to pace ourselves too.

I am in agreement, and its easier to do in the south end, you don't have time for :drinking:.

But Joes afterwards, there isn't any birthdays in May is there?

oh no....

True. We're going to have to rotate a lot. But this season I trust in our depth some more. We've got some top young guys like Nana and Gabe Gala and Velez is at least decent for a bench player. Not to mention if we get that defender we've been hoping for to fit our final roster spot we'll have Harmse on the bench as well. Anyway I trust our bench, but it's going to be a tough couple of weeks.

P.S - I'll be expecting some wins during our less busy schedule.

if you take away the 2 Canada cup games, it would be one game per week for 5 weeks straight. Nothing excessive about that.

My options for this trip were limited. I am hoping to get to see the Manchester Derby which should almost make up for it.

I don't consider a home game as "ruining" my weekend, but maybe I just view the games differently?

my point is that having ANY event on the 2nd day of a 3 day weekend will limit what you can do with a long weekend. I like going to home games, but I also like doing standard summer fare like going to the cottage or camping. If a game is on the 1st or 3rd day of a long weekend, then you can enjoy more things, and you don't feel like you've dedicated the entire long weekend to one particular event.

and don't even get me started on weddings on long weekends!!!

i'm not sure I like this early season schedule congestion. it's too cold and I don't enjoy myself as much. if the schedule was congested in June, when it's not to cold, not too hot, I'd be in heaven,

now, if we can get that global warming that we were promised, I'll be happy :)

May Weather in Toronto

Average maximum temp: 17ºC / 63ºF
Average minimum temp: 7ºC / 45ºF
Lowest on record: -4ºC / 25ºF, Highest on record: 34ºC / 93ºF
Toronto has a short, mild spring. Visitors can expect rain about 11 days out of 31 in May.

asides from the high chance of rain in May, I think that's near perfect weather for watching outdoor football.

are you in sunny or shaded seats? I was in the shade and freezing at the last game.

If the weather doesn't improve over the next two weeks, I'm wearing long johns to the game.

I'm shaded (125).

I was gonna buy longjohns for the last game, but it was so sunny that day, so I said "nahh, it'll be warmer than last game." But it wasn't really that much warmer once I got in the shade.
And I had this on: t-shirt, TFC longsleeve jersey, TFC hoodie, TFC rainjacket... scarf... hood up, cap on... jeans... evening jumping up and down didn't help.

i laughed when I heard the beer guy yell "ICE COLD BEER HERE!". no thanks.

i don't mind rainy games... best are those 16-18 degree rainy games.. but the cold pisses me off. and I think our hotweather players like Guevara just don't look as comfortable in the cold.

I know I can't complain about Canada weather, because its just the way it is... unpredictable. But for example the upcoming 7:30 wednesday the 22nd game with Chivas will most likely be really cold. Even if daytime temps in April are 15 degrees it gets downright freezing at night, especially by the lake.

that's why I'm heading to Marks Work Warehouse before the 22nd and i'm stocking up on thermal underwear... maybe three pairs will keep me warm? but I'll look like the michelin man.

I find it hard to believe that any canadian doesn't already own a pair of long underwear.
I live in them all winter, and have many sets for all types of weather.
