TORONTO — "In Carver we Trust" has proved a popular motto amongst Toronto FC fans since the Geordie coach took charge of the team last season, as the number of scarves emblazoned with the slogan proved at the home opener last weekend.
Of course, Carver himself is no stranger to faith — you need it to be a Newcastle United fan these days — but in a strange twist of fate, when he sends his first XI across the touchline to do battle every game, he places his into the hands of a man who once played for Sunderland, the Toon Army's hated Northeast rivals.

Cooper poses a threat for Toronto FC
John F. Molinaro

Kenny Cooper isn't terribly flashy, but he is a defender's worst nightmare.
What makes Cooper so dangerous is his ability to conjure goals out of nothing and single-handedly influence the game at a drop of a hat.

A developing story
Gerry Dobson

When Toronto FC entered the fray in 2007 one of the great hopes was that their player development program would pay dividends down the road.
Their system would churn out players that would not only help their own team, but by extension would help Canada as well. Or so the theory went. Progress can be painfully slow.
But something that went largely unnoticed this week might be a big sign that progress in fact is being made. The Dallas Cup is an annual spring tournament featuring top quality clubs from around the world from the U13 level all the way up to U19. Both Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps entered teams at the highest level. Two great stories here.

Nice article about Robbo from the Globe & Mail. They give the team the most fair and interesting coverage, by far.
