Bolivia not only beat Argentina today in a crucial world cup qualifier game (yes the messi argentina). They KILLED them 6-1. This guy has 8 goals during the campaign http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joaqu%C3%ADn_Botero

Lets get him!

Argentina's single goal was a fluke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlfUpC7yh74

If BMO was at the same altitude as La Paz, he'd be a great signing...

+1

the altitude makes such a difference FIFA tried to ban games there because its such an advantage that even athletes have a hard time

Now that's what I call an unfair home advantage..

Yes but it was against Argentina and their little hairy hobbit coke head manager, so I'm ok with it.

That score means nothing. It's happened before.

Maradona had Argentina arrive in La Paz for the game 2 hours before kickoff. It was an insane idea.

did you know La Paz is at an altitude the equivalent of almost 7 CN Towers? wow.

next time yer downtown, look up and imagine 7 CN Towers on top of each other, and imagine playing soccer right at the top!

by the way, Bolivia is almost last in CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying.
It was just one lucky game at home.

It'll take Bolivia another 40 years to beat anyone by that much again. I suggest TFC look at scouting players in Chile.

doubt it.

they beat Venezuela 7-0 back in 93 and Haiti 9-2 in 2000...both in La Paz

A team of Yetis could beat Argentina 20-0 if they played on top of Everest! So what's your point?

This thread should be in the general TFC forum.....

appearantly thats the way to do it, according to research by scientists, doctors and what not. If you go up there just prior to the game, the body shouldn't get affected by the altitude, however if you're there for a few days or a week, you'll be more prone to suffer from the altitude... body needs more time up there to adapt properly.

I think it was more of a psychological thing for Argentina, since they were the ones worried about this and supported FIFA's original banning of games at high altitudes.

Last year Chile went up there a few hours before game time and walked away with an easy 2-0 win... and Bolivians really hate Chile for some political reasons, Bolivia definitely got up for this game...but they were destroyed by la roja

Nevr mind the Altitude.....there are many teams that beat Bolvia in the altitude.....I mean Brazzil used to win there all the time so did Argentina....and the list goes on. Plus FIFA said it was fine......

that'll happen before we get a roof
