Why would they not be able to? please do not tell me that an early season Blue Jays game was going to take precidence over the determining of the Canadian representative for the Champions' League

Is this because wednesday was a Blue Jays regular season game? that's a sad statement about soccer in Canada but I guess its a positive that they changed although the best sign for canadian soccer would be them saying fuck it put the soccer game on instead

The press release I posted in news was just that...a press release from the club.

So yes, they have reported this, even if it's not on their official website.

They own the Blue Jays...it's in their interest to promote the Jays over TFC.

Be glad they're broadcasting it at all, and be glad both clubs were willing to make the schedule change in order to accommodate their broadcast.

Just be glad that they are accommodating. They could just broadcast tape delay for the TFC game.

Oooh. Decisions, decisions. I have yet to see TFC play in person, and my boss just this week (yesterday in fact) said that since work will probably be slower than normal this summer he doesn't mind if we take some time off this year. Because of where I live I'd have to stay overnight in either Toronto or Montreal.

I'm seriously considering this. I'll probably decide by the end of the month.

I just checked the VIA site, and I can leave from London on the 18th at 7:59 AM and arrive in Montreal (Central Station) at 5:09 PM. That would leave almost 3 hours to get to Saputo Stadium. It would leave Montreal (Central Station) on the Friday at 11:45 AM. $369.60 round trip. May be too good to pass up. Figure $30 for a ticket and $120 for a room at it would be about $530 for the trip. I am greatly intrigued.

Overnight in Montreal would be cool too. I haven't been there in two years (last time was when my little brother finished his basic training at St. Jean)

the game is later this year....
8pm start...
so realistically the buses wouldn't depart until 11pm...plus 5 or 6 hours...get home at 5am...
or split a room 3 or 4 ways and get some poutine and take in the culture (ballet).

I would suggest having the bus leave earlier, get into MTL around lunch time, enjoy an afternoon of smoked meat, poutine and beer and head to the game. Last year my ticket, hotel and flight was $240 all in, now that was due to come crazy WestJet seat sale I took advantage of.

For $530 per trip (via rail) I think I would rather do Seatle... hmmm

I just checked the WestJet site for Toronto-Montreal and it was ~$174 round trip. The tickets were $39 apiece one-way, with each leg having almost $50 in taxes and fees. No wonder the airlines are in trouble.

Someone best give VIA a heads up so they pack more than the 4 cans of Guinness they stowed away on last years trip.
