Strange how TFC is 6th from 4 pts on the road and Chicago is 1st from 4 pts on the road.

The goal.com power rankings are even more annoying. Columbust is in 1st, "because of their results" according to McCarthy.

Those fantastic results, of course, being two draws, for two points.

TFC is in 5th, and all he had to say, was that our point in Columbust was "hgihway robbery".

i dunno if it was highway robbery, but i dont think tfc did enough to warrant a win, esp with absolutely flaccid attack. couldnt put three passes together for most of the game in final third

I think Ives does the best work with power rankings, although he seemed to give LAG a lot of undeserved credit last year.

We absolutely didn't deserve 3pts in Columbus, but I think calling our single point robbery was a little ridiculous.

I also don't get how two draws puts Columbus ahead of TFC, or Chivas, or Chicago, or any of the other teams that have actually won a game.

6th.

That's good enough for the play-offs.

Chivas at 3rd is a joke.

Elsewhere I said that being 2-0 doesn't mean much per se, and they're Exhibit A.

The Crapids and Dallas are the two worst teams in the league, I think.

Otherwise that list looks about right to me

the only power ranking to me is this:

;) standings are all that matters ;)

People!

If all your interested in is results and points then perhaps the "MLS Power Ranking" isn't for you? Maybe you should just stick with the league table!

Its one man's opinion…relax…

I was about to make similar observations. American media, my new scapegoat.

Word!

Remember, rankings are just one man's opinion of how strong each team is regardless of results. It assumes that over the season, the results will vindicate their opinion.

yeah the league table is really the only thing of value. I don't "get" the whole power rankings thing anyways.

Last year Ives had us high at the start and then it faded... not sure what that's supposed to prove except that TFC fell down in the standings, which is shown by the league table ;)

I have to say this, so we draw Columbus on their pitch, have more points then them, but there "power rankings" are better? It is hard to see the logic in this. Anyway, who gives a shit?

because columbus is the defending champion, and their roster has proven itself on the pitch.

so they get a bit of leeway

Well....except that in this case the ESPN rankings are voted on by five or six different writers, so that's not really the case in this example.

But the point's generally still valid; too early to draw any real conclusions.

Power rankings are useful in leagues with imbalanced schedules (such as the MLS).

These "writers" should stick to writing and leave rankings to sport fanatics. Anyone who places Cowlumbus 3rd because ONE player scored twice and gave them two ties is retarded. I guess they missed the goal against due to broadcasting issues. Im not saying TFC should be ranked higher, but cowlumbus definitely does not deserve to be ranked 3rd.

Maybe the Crew's "Power Ranking" is higher given that they have all their home matches in some shithole called Columbus.

Given that the drive out of such shithole is surrounded for two hours on each side by a highway reststop with a McDonalds, and locally owned truckstop manned by a two toothed fake blond eating Doritos with the banjo solo from Deliverance playing in the background, I'd say they did pretty good. I wonder how the Argentine likes the nightlife. Maybe he finds out about new places by watching COPs.

So we not only beat the leagues top team, but show some degree of dominance over them.

Any ideas on where you think we should fall on ives power rankings?
