Stirring the pot or going too far?
Just Soccer by Ben Rycroft (http://www.metronews.ca/calgary/columnist/179696)

It began last year when 2,200 Toronto FC fans made the trip down to Columbus, Ohio, to watch their Reds in the opening game of the 2007 season.
To say that Toronto supporters took over on that day would be an understatement as the north end of Crew Stadium filled with Red and deafening chants of, “This is our house,” left the Columbus supporters stunned.

Columbus 'amped up' for home opener vs. TFC

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Columbus Crew return home for their second game of the Major League Soccer season when they host Toronto FC at Crew Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Crew (0-0-1) will be gunning for their first win after earning a late 1-1 draw last weekend at Houston to open their season. Reigning league MVP Guillermo Barros Schelotto ensured his team would earn a precious road point when he scored the equalizer with less than 10 minutes to play.

Carver cautious
Wants Reds ready to face MLS champs
By LANCE HORNBY (lance.hornby@sunmedia.ca), SUN MEDIA

John Carver doesn't scare easily.
But he hopes his Toronto FC players do, when it comes to keeping their starting roles. With a better team this year and a win to build on instead of multiple early season losses, Carver is trying to forge a higher standard.
"If people aren't performing, I want them under threat (of sitting)," the coach said as his team tries for its second consecutive road win in Columbus tomorrow. "And I want those guys on the outside to pressure them and make the decision tougher for me."

COLUMBUS CREW vs TORONTO FC
COLUMBUS CREW STADIUM, Columbus, Ohio
March 28, 2009 (WEEK 2) / MLS Game #8
4 p.m. ET (ONN; Gol TV Canada)

The Columbus Crew and Toronto FC resume their Trillium Cup rivalry when the two meet in Columbus on Saturday, in what is expected to be a tremendous atmosphere with the invasion of thousands of TFC supporters from Canada. The Crew began defense of their MLS title last weekend with a late 1-1 draw in Houston, while Toronto FC opened a season with a victory for the first time, defeating the Kansas City Wizards 3-2 on the road.

TFC faithful set to invade Columbus on Saturday
2,500 Reds fans expected to make trip for first leg of 2009 Trillium Cup

TORONTO -- The banners are painted and noisemakers and drums dusted off from a long harsh northern winter as plenty of tailgating and good-natured trash-talking will take place this weekend in the parking lot at Columbus Crew Stadium. The Buckeye State and the city of Columbus are bracing themselves for an invasion of close to 2,500 red scarf wearing Canadian soccer fans on Saturday when the Columbus Crew play host to Toronto FC in the first leg of the 2009 Trillium Cup.
The event seems to be an annual first rite of spring for soccer fans from Ohio and southern Ontario.

Morning everyone,

Not a fan of the snakes with today's SSG. The SSG herself I rather enjoyed looking at :).

Good discussion with Ben Rycroft, Duane Rollins and El Presidente on the game this weekend and fan support in general.

Morning D! Soild interview Jack. You really try to cast us in a good light and stay away from the negitivity that all these media types like to put on us. Thank You. Yeah the numbers have bounced around everywhere I looked it's either 1200 or 2500. I think it's most likely going to be around 2000.

A little more respectful? Of a city that can't support it's team even when they excel?

“Toronto fans, they came down with no respect for our organization. They brought a large crowd, they thought they were going to come into Crew stadium and our house and just walk all over us ... and basically we sent them home being a little more respectful.”

Ummmm...We DID walk all over you. Maybe not on the pitch, but perhaps in a way that is almost as important - in the stands. And no, I didn't leave with any more respect for your club than I had before. Zero times zero is still zero.

Thats what she said.

To me, if you go to that length to stay sexy AND you wrap yourself in a boa, you're basically saying: "don't bring it unless you can bring it."

TFC faithful set to invade Columbus on Saturday

"Both teams won their opening games last weekend, with Columbus rallying for a 2-1 win away to the Houston Dynamo "

This from the MLS website. You would think they would know that Columbus tied last week's game. Wouldn't you?
