Gentlemen and Ladies of the Toronto FC,

I come to you with a request rooted in the proven science of good ju-ju.

That good things come to those who are kind and accepting. Those who speak positive words about others. Particularly those kind words sent to those who are desperate for acceptance (see, below).

http://trsportsonline.com/images/hool-hoodie2-LRG.JPG

I want this thread to be a beacon for positivity for the those Ohio based "fans" that crave to be accepted by us here in Toronto. With that in mind, here are a couple of things that I find nice about Columbus.

Feel free to add your own.

Nice Things About Columbus

You can always get a ticket. Any game. Any time.
They have redefined the term "Hooligan", showing the world that it needn't be associated with violence. It can also mean soft, pussy-like and lame.
By default, they make NASCAR fans look sophisticated
We can hear our chants sung in their stadium, even when we aren't playing
As a result of the West Ham incident, they have popularized the technique of fighting while running backwards.
Watered down beer means less of a hangover the next morning

Perhaps you have a few more?

The "Arena District"

Does that cover the arena, or is it both the arena and the parking lot for the arena?

My favourite part of the city of Columbus was the self-proclaimed 'struggling mall' mentioned in the info book at the hotel. They actually advertise their mall as struggling - I admire their humility.

What I like about the Columbus KKKrew? The fact that their supporters don't mind giving up their seats at the stadium to accomodate real supporters. If our FO ever asked me to change seats so that a KKKrew supporter could have my seat for a game, I would lose it. God bless them for bending over and taking it so well.

A guy in a bar leans over to the guy next to him and says, “Wanna hear a Crew joke?” The guy replies, “Well, before you tell that joke, you should know something. I am 6′ tall, 200 lbs. and I am an Crew fan. The guy sitting next to me is 6′2″, 225 lbs., and he is a Crew fan. The guy right next to him is 6′5″, 250lbs., and he is also a Crew fan. Now, you still wanna tell me that joke?” The first guy says, “No, not if I’m going to have to explain it three times.”

Q: Why is ice no longer available at Crew Stadium games? A: Because the one person who knew the recipe finally retired.

Two Crew fans were hootin’ and hollerin’ while at a tailgate when a bystandard asked them why they were celebrating. The smart one said proudly that they had just finished a jigsaw puzzle and it only took them two months. “Two months?!” exclaimed the bystandard. The Crew fan proudly replied, “Yeah, the box said 4 - 6 years!”

A Crew fan was almost killed today in a tragic horse back riding accident. He fell from the horse and was nearly trampled to death. Luckily, the manager of the Wal-Mart came out and unplugged the horse.

Q: What's the difference between a Crew fan and a bucket of crap?
A: A: The bucket...

Q: If you see a Crew fan on a bicycle, why should you never swerve and hit him?
A: You don't want to damage your bike, do you?

Q: How do you get a Ohio state graduate off your porch?
A: Pay him for the pizza.

Q: What does the average Buckeye get on his SATs?
A: Drool.

Q: Why is it so hot at Crew games?
A: Because there's not a fan in the place.

Q: Whats the worst thing about Crew Stadium?
A. The seat's face the pitch.

Q: What do you say to a Crew fan with a job?
A: Can I have a Big Mac please!

Q: What do you call a Crew fan in a 2 bedroomed Semi?
A: A burglar

What I like about Columbus is that they are amusing on an otherwise boring day.

Case and point, the forums over at bigsoccer. I found this little gem:

"Cool. I will make it to the Nordecke eventually I think, but for the TFC game I ended up getting two tickets in section 132. Does anyone know where I can find a more detailed seating map? I'm curious as to how far up/down my seats are (they're in the teens). Any idea? "

One might suggest that if they got their collective heads around it, they might reach a conclusion that someone in row 14 for example, might actually be 14 rows up from the field.

Silly tickets.

Steve
03-25-2009, 09:18 AM
Wow, as much as I dislike Columbus, that was crossing the line for Garber to say.

I mean, last year our showing up might have helped push the groups together (since before the stage was created before the 2008 season Columbus had multiple groups who didn't stand together), and there may even be Columbus fans who say we helped with motivation, the commissioner should never say anything like that. Praise us all you want (though to be honest it's getting kind of old) but don't make direct comparisons, or suggest we helped create another group. All it does is piss off Columbus, and give fuel for the fire for the sect on this board that loves to start threads about other teams copying us by singing "The Dichio Song LOLOL"

Oldtimer

Correct. You guys were the catalyst that created the nordecke as we see it today. However, did you guys give us the we love you chant, the guillermo or several other chants that we have? No you didn't. Are you the ones that gave the inspiration to thoma for all the two sticks and banners? No. So while you gave us the kick in the ass we needed to get our shit together, we are far from posers.

and this is what I posted....

I think that the more people support their club , either as individuals or through supporters groups, the better for the league. If it takes away supporters invading your house to kick start it, so be it...as long as the home fans react and do something about so it doesn't happen again it's all good...

Having said that, get ready Columbus 'cause the Reds are coming!!!!

Can someone make a giant "We made you" banner or something of the sort for the game on saturday?
Id make one and go but, um, im on another continent.

or something along thelines of "...and on the 29th of March 2008 GOD witnessed something truly miraculous - TFC supporters created the Nordecke."

It's too late to get anything painted, but maybe flatpicker or BC101 could do something in Photoshop, and use the rasterbator software to get it blown up for printing.

Who cares what the rest of the leagues premimitions of us are based on these comments. Every away trip I have been on,including columbus, the fans have had positive things to say about the atmosphere and knowledge we brought to the match. Let's worry about these comments and not the shit that is fabricated from the commish.

Just in case you missed it:

http://crewonespot.blogspot.com/2009/03/32509-guide-to-toronto-insults.html

A guide for understanding Toronto insults so you can be prepared for them both online 362 days of the year and the 3 game days of the year.

1.) Toronto invented the Nordecke and the Crew supporter on March 28th, 2009. It's a flat out lie that CSU and HSH had earlier establishment dates then TFC's largest contingent, the Red Patch Boys.

2.) Columbus is a crappy city with a high crime rate and most of us are peddling crack on the street corner to get by because...

3.) They don't pay for healthcare. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t-lZkKkXPM) But, we do.

4.) The Hudson Street Hooligans are posers claiming to pretend to be an Ultra hooligan movement akin to the next ICF. No doubt you might get some bare knuckle boxing between members, a little tasering along with ghetto birds, and some other shenigans once in a while, but it's just a name. I also guess the Red Patch Boys are a 1st Canadian Division mobilized infantry group (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Patch_Boys).

5.) Crew fans like myself apparently should be experts like them at being ultras and making two sticks on our first go? (http://ultras114.aforumfree.com/football-culture-f1/crew-douche-bags-t658.htm) You know I do not recall any demonstrations by all of these TFC's ultra groups, I guess they are real ultras as well just like the Red Patch Boys are a mobilized infantry division and us Hooligans believe that we are in 1970's London. Anyways, with the two sticks just trying to bring that culture more to our team and to MLS. It's a learning experience. We hope to have something that turns out half nice but I made some sh*tty ones like this (http://www.geocities.com/kozlofam/1uncanny.jpg) as well (don't worry Crew fans I'll be spray painting over the middle on that, it was Blake's dumb idea anyways and it was about the gayest thing I ever painted :-), wouldn't want to embarrass my team like a "We Deserve Better" banner or anything).
http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v360/97/48/47507107/n47507107_32123432_7307.jpg

That is 33 in that picture, so over double that will look legit. And, not all of the ones in this pic are quality either. Some are like Thoma's best ones and some are like my worse ones. Although most of mine are good enough like these. (http://crewonespot.blogspot.com/2009/03/32509-moment-of-sen.html)

6.) TFC fans will try to outdo Crew fans by outsinging them at their own national anthem. (http://z15.invisionfree.com/U_Sector/index.php?showtopic=9926&view=getnewpost) Huh, at least most of the TFC fans called this dude out and I share their point on this. Why would you sing someone else's anthem? Just give it silent respect.

Then over here this guy wants to know if we care or not if he sings our national anthem. (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=982259) No one cares TFC fans!! It will be sung by the Nordecke either way. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnq2k0jhu5Q) Yeah when I'm drunk and all hyped out to watch my team in a packed and loud Nordecke on opening day, I'm going to be really concerned about what Norman from Kitchener decides to do about his national anthem dilemma with our national anthem.

7.) Toronto brings over 2,000 fans (if you haven't heard this line you are deaf, blind, and one lucky son of a biscuit eating bulldog) while Crew fans can only bring 100. Not really our fault as that's all we are allotted. Don't even bother with that retort because TFC fans don't understand sensical arguments. Also the fact that the Crew would have to likely replace OSU and not the Argonauts to have 2,000 fans go anywhere, anytime soon won't register either. So, instead please just gouge your own eyes out. Anyways, I was quite proud to get around 110 in TFC followed a few weeks later by 300-350 in Chicago this year. Hell, around 2005 I would have been happy with over 300 Crew supporters sitting together anywhere let alone on the road. I would love for us to grow on that.

8.) Crew fans are supposed to be wowed by the atmosphere at BMO. If a TFC fan asks in person and you don't say you're wowed then they will give you the most self deprivating look ever, like starved little cats trying to get their ego nibblets. I have had this happen to me on multiple occassions with a Toronto Sun reporter, regular TFC fans at half time, and Red Patch Boys at Shoeless Joe's*. It's just better to go along with it and say "you're the best" even if you truly believe in your heart of hearts that Nordecke brings a better atmosphere.

*Oddly enough they are usually stand up in person and act like they are your best friend in the world. I have to admit that anyone that gives me a free beer especially after one of our guys f's up and gets us a place 35 minutes out of town so we spend 300 bucks on a taxi for the three nights we are in Toronto is okay in my book.

9.) TFC has intensely sick anthems made by 80's legends Glass Tiger. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y70baI7znvk) While the Crew ripped off TFC who came up with the "We Love You" chant. Here's some evidence of TFC creating the chant. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PECt4GRWb68)

10.) TFC has to do everything better then Columbus. If we have a little rumble with some West Ham fans, then the next time we are in TFC they have to show us who the real hooligans are by surrounding us and doing a melee no matter if there are some families and older people on the trip. Then I can bet that if we do this two stick thing and it's half successful, that Toronto will then do 500 to one up it and show us all who the real Ultras are. But, then again you could say we showed them who the real streamer throwers were. Oh, yeah take that. And..

11.) Rules do not apply to Toronto FC. Everyone else is strictly prohibited from throwing streamers, but TFC fans have at it. Crew fans and American MLS fans for that matter are second rate citizens in their own league. Hell, our own commish strokes one out whenever he can for TFC anyways. (http://crewonespot.blogspot.com/2009/03/32509-humor-garber-equals-babbling.html)

Also not only that but TFC is just about allowed to get away with anything. Beer bottle throwing at Robbie Rogers is granted the green light in Toronto as well as attacks on Crew fans. But, if it's Columbus then Kartik Krishnayer, Dougie Brimson, and MLS Rumors are all over that like a gold digger on Kayne West.

12.) Nordecke sounds like Nordick (http://triton.imageshack.us/Himg21/scaled.php?server=21&filename=img4089.jpg&xsize=640&ysize=480). Creative and classy! Hopefully that gets by the Crew FO who reads the Crew boards everyday.

13.) Just in case 2,000 people are not enough to get your attention and just in case you only care about the crowd and not the actual game on the field and you stare off into the sky. Toronto FC will be there as well by spending $800 dollars on a plane to fly a message around your stadium. All I can think is geesus, donate it to charity or something.

14.) And, in case it's the offseason and you forget about TFC. They will post stickers all over Arena district to put a real cramper on your Saturday night. I mean I just couldn't continue getting drunk after seeing a TFC sticker at Gaswerks.

15.) And, in case you miss all of that. The TFC fans will invade your bigsoccer threads and your blog with messages that sound like they were written while foaming at the mouth.

16.) Those messages will be along the lines of... Crew fans are fat, dumb Americans, from a cowtown of 2.3 million people. Also, there are no pretty women, although every time I'm at Brothers or Gaswerks I see about 750 of them. But, of course, Columbus residents have lower standards then the TFC elite. I mean come on it's the Rome of the New World.

17.) If Crew fans get Fan of The Year from Greg Lalas and Shep Messing TFC fans will start an email campaign just in case someone forgot about them for the last five minutes.

18.) If you make a joke video about TFC. Be prepared to not read the 500 comments that follow.

19.) The Crew FO is stupid for handing out commerative coins because of course TFC fans will not realize that everyone has coins anyways.

20.) Toronto is more cultured then Columbus, it's actually the cultural epicenter of the universe. And, of course only a city with culture can understand this:
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8U3c2Ur5i7Q/SVG0JlbdIzI/AAAAAAAABeA/zJMOpm4GvGc/s400/brennanrickettswow.PNG

21.) The only reason why Toronto peed on our fence by the church is because they were stooping to Columbus's cultural level. It's something in the Columbus farm/smog air:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8U3c2Ur5i7Q/Scrn0WOqmmI/AAAAAAAAB3s/JoAxo1CHE7o/s400/Untitled.jpg (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8U3c2Ur5i7Q/Scrn0WOqmmI/AAAAAAAAB3s/JoAxo1CHE7o/s1600-h/Untitled.jpg)

At the end of the day we have been bigger and badder than Columbus (and most of MLS) in a much shorter time span.

My thoughts exactly; some of them are kind of funny though. At least he came up with actual reasons for why they hate us; a lot of Americans hate us for what we are (i.e. as Canadians) rather than what we do and that's pathetic.

For all those KKKrew fans that pretend not to care about us, they sure talk about us a lot.

Will this replace the Supporters Sheild? No, wait it can't replace the Supporters Shield being a MLS Cup type trophy. *sigh* we'll just have to wait and see.

The coins to be given out AFTER the match is better. What would be BEST is if they just sent them to the STH with their tickets. That would have saved them a bundle since there are what 200 maybe 300 Crew STH?

I was on a Ohio State University forum and saw this thread! Jesus these people are stupid!!

http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/open-discussion-work-safe/613875-buying-gun.html

Buying a Gun
I am currently in the market for a handgun. I've shot guns with some friends and I really enjoyed it. I'm not necessarily interested in the protection aspect of buying a handgun (although that is a benefit), I just found that firing a gun is a great way to relieve some stress. I'm not that knowledgeable on the different types or the pros & cons on the different calibers. I currently own a S&W revolver which I inherited from my grandfather when he passed away so I want a semi-automatic. I'm currently leaning towards a Glock G23 (.40 cal), but didn't know if I should be looking at 9mm. Any suggestions?

Gotta love how peeing on a fence became something so incredibly offensive to them. I mean, racial slurs directed at a player on the pitch is okay, but DON'T PEE ON A FENCE!!!

Too funny. Made me spit my tea.

seems some of the crew supporters are not happy about being shown up in their own stadium again, and have something planned. they sent this letter to MS-R. they are obviously looking for trouble. just be careful if your going down.

MLSR,

I just want you all to know that a bunch of those cannucks are coming down here to start trouble on Saturday. We know this from our sources. Please know that if this happens then we will respond in kind (not like last year when we let them get away with it). We are hoping to avoid a confrontation but we WILL NOT back down from one if these cannucks force one. If they thought what we did to the West Ham fans was hooliganism then they haven't seen anything yet. We'd hope that if something does go down this warning will serve to provide you with context so that you don't do another "Blame it on Columbus" hatchet job. Watch the game and watch what the Toronto fans do. The Crew Front office is giving out a commerative coin. We full expect 2.000 cannuckafucks to throw them at our players and us. This is a line that should it be crossed amounts to the "nuclear option". And no I am not gonna tell you what that is. Try and be balanced in your reporting that's all we ask.

Oh that is hilarious! The 'nuclear option', I like it. I'm guessing that one of these 17 year old prats has a signature move, not unlike the atomic wedgie, that he's been practicing on his Hulk Hogan wrestling buddy in his spare time.

"If you throw one more coin I'm going to have not choice but to exercise the nucelar option! That's it, Dr. Atom is angry now, NNNUUUUUCCCLLLLEEEEEEERRRRR AATTTA... ow, that one got me in the eye. MMMMOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMYYYY!!!" *cries to mother, who is also at the game*

Not that I plan on throwing a coin, because I don't and I don't think that's the way that our fans roll, just a funny scenario.

Instead of planning choreographed modes of attack, why don't these twats put their energy into cheering for their team and beating us at our own game?

Hahahahaha! The letter looks like it was written by an 18 year-old who wants to sound cool and menacing. It has many spelling mistakes in it and just reeks of someone being childish. There's no real concern here for the safety of the RPBs, our away team outnumbers their supporter groups. The rest will be families on a day out, or what we call the soccer moms and their kids. Joining a fight in progress would be the last thing on their minds, they wouldn't endanger their kids.

This "letter" is just this Columbus supporter trying to create a "carte blanche" for whatever happens on Saturday. I would wager that this is no way represents their whole fan base (or even supporter group base).

This is a non-issue.
