There's going to be a 'thing' held at Joe's with Rohan Rickets and a charity he supports called www.athletesforafrica.com (http://www.athletesforafrica.com)

this isn't a 'fund raiser' as it will be free to attend.

I'm posting it in here, because they probably don't want a bunch of obsessive autograph hunters or stalkers. I talked with a person at the charity, and they know all about us, and wanted me to pass along the invite. I'll probably go to check it out, because why the hell not?

No offense, good for Ricketts for giving back, but wouldn't it make more sense if players like Ibrahim, Sanyang, Gala and Attakora who have more direct roots in Africa be involved with this fundraiser rather than Rohan (a Londoner) who is already committed to plenty off-field activities/promos/distractions as it is?

I don't want this come across as cold ... but Rohan is already (seemingly) over-booked so to speak. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I wouldn't worry about it. pro soccer players have lots of time on their hands.
what else would he be doing from 6-9 on a wednesday? ;)

Who photo-shopped out all the stuff on Rohan's shirt?! I guess the charity don't have the rights to use the BMO/TFC/MLS names and logos. Looks so weird to see a shirt like that with nothing on it!

Can someone who goes to this ask him not to leave his mind behind so he can actually start using it at games? :p

Whatever it takes. I want to see him back in form like I saw last year.

I understand your point, but Rohan is a much bigger name, and would be a bigger benefit to the charity. Bono isn't African either, but he has a lot of clout behind his name.

and... this isn't a thread about Rohan's performance. There are other places for that talk.

Good cause, he seems to be a good dude, and despite his lacusters performance in the last two games, I still believe in his potential in this league.

You certainly don't have to be from somewhere to help the cause. If that were the case international aid and development would barely exist. And the organization is trying to build global citizenship, where people learn to take on increasing responsibilities and show concern for others, whether they are your neighbor or live half way around the globe.

I thought the consensus was that he needs improove his game play since he was very mostly insible on the field

Just bumping it to remind everyone this is tomorrow night. I will be there...dunno if that is a positive or a negative so I am going with "neutral". ;)

This is good for anyone with kids. They don't often get to meet professional players.

the event is tomorrow, and it's probably going to be a low key, yet high fun event.

plus where else can you talk to Rohan Rickets just days before the home opener?
