GolTV has it on tape delay at 7pm.

Anyone who was there Saturday know whether Scallywags will have it live? They don't show it on their website

we're looking into setting up a webstream connection to the projector at Joe's
(like the Carolina Games, but more reliable).

A live airing is under consideration at Shoeless Joes, it is just a matter of setting up a computer to streaming it on, I am not sure if any other bars in the city will do this, keep your eyes on the board for updates.

also, we need an account to 'MLS Match Center'.

I'll look into getting that set up.

hmm... the problem is the blackout restrictions imposed by MLS Live.

Global Blackout: Nationally televised games on ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Espaņol and TeleFutura will be blacked out worldwide.

looks like TFC-COL will be covered

if that was the case, there would be no video link next to the game

Side note, I find it absolutely ridiculous that Buddle is listed as a candidate for the Golden Boot in that MLSnet.com poll

We will all pass around hat at the bar to cover the cost of a RPB direct kick account, a collection plate of sorts. I was just on the direct kick page, WTVN is the local station doing the Crew Broadcast, it will be available online.

The game will be available via Match Center and Direct Kick... It's just a question of whether they'll black it out for Canada. Which they did last year several times.

Inquiries are in.

i ordered the direct kick/match center package.....$20/season (for most games). the feed is very good, almost as good as on TV. only problem is that you have to listen to shitty commentary and watch poor camera work. after every TFC goal on saturday, they just showed the reaction of the KC players...not the TFC celebrations. either way, a good purchase

So... in other words... the same video we got on GolTV. ;)

Can't we pick it up from JustinTV or some oher P2P like that?

sulfur
03-23-2009, 04:52 PM
The MLS stream is quite good quality, and not subject to going up and down based on someone's personal preferences. If we can get that working, I'd prefer to go that way. If not, then the P2P option is definitely there.

flatpicker
03-23-2009, 04:54 PM
I would hope we don't have to go with P2P... the picture is not very good at all when projected on the big screen.

Damn! Stupid tape delay!

Things are coming together. We should have an announcement in the weekly events email Wednesday with the particulars. :)

We may even be able to get it going on multiple TVs at Joe's... wouldn't that be cool?

If it's going to be webstreamed at Joes, what were we missing last time in order to have sound? Do I need to pop into Active Surplus??

sulfur
03-23-2009, 05:10 PM
We will have sound. Have no fear. The cool AV kids are here.

(Sparky, me, JDG, and Gobi :) )

Without JDG, we got last year's SC broadcasts going, no issue... and with sound too!

Any idea why the game is on tape delay on GoalTV?

All they have on at our gametime is a soccer game from the Uruguayan League.

Makes more sense to tape delay that if isn't already a repeat.

Idaknow. My inquiry to GolTV Canada got a simple "check our website for the scheduling". Amusingly, the website didn't go that far into the future. Silly bumpkins.

I had read that GOL had committed to WCQ matches, but I guess the listing doesn't reflect that eh...hmm.
Now GOL is owned by MLSE I'd expect to see priority given to TFC over any other games but they had likely committed prior to the buyout.

The WCQ games are on Setena on Saturday and not GoalTV.

At 5:00 PM on Saturday, GoalTV is broadcasting a Spanish League game.

Holy smokes. GolTV has a REBROADCAST of a Uruguayan game from 3-5, then a REBROADCAST of the Sevilla-Vallolidad game from 5-7 (which was played last weekend).

Here, I'll spare everyone the trouble.

Defensor beat Penarol 1-0
http://soccernet-att.espn.go.com/match?id=263576&cc=5901

Kanoute got a hat-trick for Sevilla.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MKsMqK0wSw

What could explain this set of priorities? I would have thought that commitments to show previously played games would be pretty easy to get out of....I am certain that the team doesn't want this either, but god it seems bizarre.

Calling mlsintoronto.....

It doesn't make sense.

I could see them putting the TFC game live at 4:00 PM and then repeating it that night, but to not cover it live inorder to broadcast repeat games from a week ago is just stupid.

It's very possible that GolTV's schedule is wrong. This has been the case in the past.

Gol TV owns the rights to the home World Cup qualifiers for Spain, Italy and Germany.

Gol TV's schedule is not updated for Saturday yet.

In all likelihood, they will be showing the Spain v Turkey match live in the time slot we are wishing to see TFC.
