Lenarduzzi said Nash's status as a globally recognized athlete will help should the team ever decide to sign a high-profile soccer player.

"He has a relationship with (Barcelona striker) Thierry Henry," said Lenarduzzi. "I'm sure having an owner that is a well-known international basketball player making the connecting isn't going to hurt us."

Henri will play in NY if he ever comes the MLS. That may be.

It is just interesting... having an owner who travels in the players circles...
That can't help but be a good thing.

They're only opening up 5000 for now, you probably won't see 10,000 for april. Regardless, with a 20,000 seat stadium i don't think they'll have a problem filling it up.

IF Henri, or any other bigtime player, decided to come to the MLS to finish their career, wouldn't you expect them to go to either:
1) The team offering the most money
2) the team offering the most exposure
3) A team with a climate they enjoy playing in
4) a place to have fun

Having Nash as a part owner helps, sure. But it doesn't do much. If anything, I'd think it would make them not want to play there. I don't know if I'd like one of my friends being my boss. Maybe its just me, but I'd rather go stick it to em somewhere else. If anything Nash's ownership wouldn't have near the impact that a club tied to a european team could have. And those haven't exactly brought in the best of the best.
