That goal shouldn't have counted because the player in the offside position was a distraction to the keeper.

I'm down in FL for a few weeks, and watching on ESPN 2.

The Seattle crowd is fantastic. Maybe even more engaged than Toronto (not including the bunker) Although 35k certainly contributes to the atmosphere.

Nice for the Sounders that they didn't have to wait too long for a goal.

How many games did we wait? I can't remember.

I think the acoustics play a large part, same with the mic placement.

I wonder what we would sound like with a setup like that

in fairness, i doubt they have 35k maniacs...the stadium really helps compared to BMO.

fair point.... however I do notice a pretty severe drop off in atmosphere once you leave the supporters area. The extra 15k certainly makes a difference in sound too. Kind of like the Blue Jays in early 90s vs. now.

Excellent half, supporters in good voice (but not much singing that I can hear - maybe because they're being drowned out) hope they can keep it up in the future. As I thought, Montero will be a beast and my prediction of 14 goals looks good so far (though admittedly just based on 45 mins). He's got a goal and an assist. My final score prediction will be incorrect but that's okay, I'd rather Seattle win to hook people on (if they're not already) and we won't have to run the chance of having Seattle win their first game against us.

anyone know why Boyens was taken off? He didn't seem injured... was it his performance?

It seems it was arguably Goldwaithe's fault for the second goal...the ball went through his legs into the net I think..

And Marshall could have sat on the grass for that half and it probably wouldn't have made a difference..the Shite stank so much..

Yeah, it was his performance. You have to feel for him, but his lateral coverage is absolutely terrible, and he was allowing gaping, gaping holes. Petke actually played really well for most of that half.

First half is in the books, looks like the only thing more real than the green field in Seattle is the passioante green stands. The crowd resembles the Boston Red Sox fans who are always into the game, there certainly isn't a "corporate section" in this stadium, atleast in their first game. Although the crowd is loud, they are lacking any sort of proper chanting but one has to give them a break since chants take time to develop.

As for the expansion team, well they play anything like a group of guys who are playing with each other for the first official game. Incredible team chemistry and already the SFC team seems to have a chemistry developed. Their counter attacks and plays of the wing are in top form given it's their first game. Their defence seems to be strong, haven't seen one mistake except a miscommunication on a header which was quickly cleared by Marshall.

Given all these positives we bare in mind that they are playing a suspect side in the New York Red Bulls, playing infron of a home crowd that hasn't had their stomachs tested yet and a team who is unconsciouss of any pressure.
