Can Toronto FC make the playoffs?

Is this the year? After two seasons of futility, can Toronto FC finally break through and reach the playoffs for the first time?
Major League Soccer's 2009 regular season kicks off this week and Toronto will be looking to improve on its 9-13-8 record from a year ago, when it stumbled to last place in the Eastern Conference.

David Beckham won't be around for the start of Major League Soccer's 2009 regular season, but there's still plenty of reason to be excited about the new campaign.
There are also many pressing questions that need to be answered.
Toronto FC will be looking to qualify for the playoffs for the first time after making a series of big off-season moves, most notably trading for Dwayne De Rosario. The arrival of the Canadian veteran, along with Argentine forward Pablo Vitti, makes Toronto a strong force in the Eastern Conference, but is it enough to turn it into a playoff contender?

Drew Carey full of ideas as owner in MLS

NEW YORK — Visiting the museum at FC Barcelona's stadium a couple years ago, comedian Drew Carey heard the tour guide say something about the fans voting for a new team president.
Once he learned how regular people can join the club and have a say in how it's run, Carey's reaction was one only a wealthy celebrity could have.
"Right away, I thought, 'I would love to own a team back in the States just to bring this idea to the United States,"' the host of "The Price Is Right" recalled Monday. "As soon as I got done with that, I started looking into how much is it to buy a soccer team. They told me, and I thought, 'Oh, I could afford that.'
