It's that time of the year again!

As we near the first game of the season, it's time for the RPBs to predict TFC's final 2009 season league record!

Last year I ran this thread and then revisited it at year end. The combined predictions of the RPB was 9.3 wins, 12.5 losses, 8.3 ties, 11th position in the league. TFC's actual finish was 9 wins, 13 losses, 8 ties, 12th position in the league. Last year's best predictions were by Roogsy, Ben_vw, and Blixa. They all predicted 9 wins, 13 losses, 8 ties, with Roogsy and Ben_vw predicting 10th overall position and Blixa 11th overall position.

Clearly the "Wisdom of the Crowd" was bang on!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisdom_of_the_crowd

So I would like as many people as possible to reply to this thread.

No chat, no talk please -- the time for talk is over!

Just post your prediction for WINS, LOSSES, TIES, and OVERALL POSITION (of the 15 teams). Please post in that order, and ensure your numbers of wins, losses, ties add up to 30.

Base your prediction on ANY factors. For some, it's a gut feeling. For others it's an assumption we'll get a CB. For others, it might be a statistical analysis of some sort. Whatever.

The thread ends at 6pm this Saturday before the first match.
I will tally up the numbers, and we'll know right away how TFC will finish. ;)

It all depends on how Vitti works out. If the kid hits his stride, and our defense plays decently, we could easily be tops of the league.

Actually, Chicago came 3rd last year, 5 points back of Houston in the overall standings. And in 2007, 46 points would have been only good enough for 5th overall.

I predict we finish 0-0-30.

- Carver and Mo both subsequently go into exile on Christmas Island, getting there on a raft made out of broken promises and shattered dreams.
- The supporters begin to tear apart BMO Field, but don't last long as their knees give out on the field turf, and many ambulances are required to tend to them.
- Giambac buys the team for $1, renames them the "Toronto South Americans", fires the entire roster, and replaces them all with the 15 year old Argentinian and Colombian boys he always wanted Mo to sign.
- The following season, the club manages to go 0-0-31 - an astounding record, given that there are only 30 games in the season.
- Giambac is found in an alley a week later, drinking Listerine straight from the bottle, and jabbering about how "nothing is real to him anymore".

Prove me wrong boys. :D

rocker

Last year the collective 2008 RPB prediction thread predicted the final season record almost exactly. (9 wins, 13 losses, 8 ties)

Here's the tally for 2009. Will the RPB average be predictive again? Wait and see!

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/PhJD/RPB-2009-predictions.jpg

The collective RPB prediction for this season is thus:

13 wins, 9 losses, 8 ties, for 47 points, and 5th position of 15 teams.

Note that not everyone predicted league finish (some predicted division finish) so those #s were not included. I did not include the joke predictions ;)
So we'll see at season's end who was most accurate, and whether the RPB average once again predicts the final finish! Clearly the RPBs are much more positive this year, as the wins average is 4 higher than the average last year.

Thanks for your participation and enjoy the playoffs... I mean, enjoy the season! ;)

*note that it says 48 points in the above image cuz of rounding in the spreadsheet
