Morning D! God I'm so sick and tired of all this attention that this soap opera is getting. Who cares...seriously? This is the reason why all these problems are happening in the world of football. The players have way too much power and infulence.

What I find bs is RSL got more media coverage for their win than TFC did. Not even Gareth wrote about it today

RSL thumped DC United 3-0 - supposedly strong competition. We (as expected) beat a USL team 2-1. How is it bs that they should get more coverage than we do?

Agreed - MLS v MLS will naturally draw more attention than MLS v USL unless you write for the USL.

THat's because we're all so insanely addicted to soccer blogs, we'd already heard from the DC game that neither of their TWO red cards hold over.

(By the by, the replay clearly shows Serioux's tug was outside the box, so he shouldn't have gotten one anyway.)

He has an option, but after this whole fiasco I wouldn't be shocked if when Beckham decides he wants an MLS team suddenly the franchise fee is $100M.

Carver happy with performance

Coach pleased following 2-1 win over Charleston

Toronto FC coach John Carver believes the performance in Saturday's 2-1 win over Charleston Battery shows a significant upgrade in the quality of his squad compared to 12 months ago. Dwayne De Rosario and Rohan Ricketts scored the goals as the Reds beat the USL side despite playing the second half with 10 men following Adrian Serioux's sending off for two yellow cards. "It's preseason but it gives you confidence when you are winning games," said Carver. "Before we came into this competition I made it clear that I wanted to come here and do well. I think you can see from the performance against Charleston that we have got a huge upgrade on last season and hopefully we can build on this performance in the next couple of games."

Not bad for just a week's worth of training.
Dwayne De Rosario scored in the first minute and Rohan Ricketts added a goal with seven minutes left in regulation as Toronto FC defeated the Charleston Battery, 2-1, in the opening round of the Carolina Challenge Cup on Saturday before a crowd of about 3,400 at Blackbaud Stadium.
