I got this from bigsoccer

The Canadian Soccer Association, Montreal Impact, Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC will announce Tuesday, February 24 the schedule for the 2009 Nutrilite Canadian Championship at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec. The press conference will begin shortly after the Impact, winners of the 2008 edition, commence their final training session in preparation for the CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal first leg match the following day.

Hey Paul, I'm looking at getting a new chaise for my study.

Given my choice of cherry coloured hardwood, would you suggest the charcoal black, or a more simple egg-white leather?

Thanks.

I actually bought them right at the box office.
But this year i will get my cousins in montreal to get us some tickets.

I did not sit with the RPB. I sat behind the net at the Carlsberg Beer Tent at Saputo stad.

Good times.

Nothing like beating up punks from montreal.

I might be getting to old for this.

make the CSL champs or whatever the next tier is. (an amateur team would be cool to see though)

unfortunately the "big clubs" have nothing to gain from playing an away game in St Catharines or at Lamport or wherever, or a home game against a team of that level. There's nothing in it for them, so I think it will stay at 3 clubs for at least a few years, but hopefully the CSL and PDL will improve to a level where we can see some representation.

seems completely backwards to me. shouldn't we be thinking 'what can we as a big club do for the small clubs'. you know, all apart of trying to build successful Canadian players by giving them more oppurtunity on a national level.

this tourney needs more teams. its pretty dull otherwise, and will just get worse.

actually, for eastbound the wait is 1 hour...if it were to start on the half hour then it would be 1/2 hour.....no biggie, I'll just drive or wait the hour....I wouldn't leave early....A bit frustrating ... though I'm near Danforth, so I can always take the subway. I can't imagine anyone will be leaving the game early just because of the train though - unless it's a complete walk-over.

The other problem is that the westbound train, only arrives at 6:49 pm or 7:49 pm - which is barely enough time to get through the gates, grab a beer, and get to your seat ... personally I like the on the half-hour starts, as I can see the warm-up, etc, without being an hour early.

GO is supposed to move to half-hour service on the Lakeshore line later this year, but probably after the season ends. Oh well, only ever having a 30-minute wait for a train in 2010 will be something to look forward too.

I have to agree, it's not like catering to supporters from Brantford and their need to catch a greyhound in hamilton, should be high on the priority list. Maybe it should be taken up with GO/Greyhound/Via, or maybe you can arrange something in Brantford with somebody who owns a car.

It's up to you, to figure out how you're going to attend a game, get yourself there and get home, if you dont have options because you live too far away, then that's just the way it is.

I would never leave the stadium early, and I wouldnt attend a game if leaving 20 minutes early was necessary.

If there is a later option, take that. If you have to be somewhere else, don't come to that match.

If TFC really cared about it's fans, they would make this a Thursday game so I'd be back from vacation in time to go to the game. Thanks, TFC. You do your best at screwing over your fans. ;)

and if you have to wait an hour for the next train... then go grab a beer first.

I wonder why that June 17th game in Montreal isn't played on Saturday June 13th. If I understand the Montreal schedule correctly, they aren't playing any other games between June 7 and June 21, and Toronto doesn't play any other game between June 6 and June 24.

yes its about an 8-9hr wait in Hamilton if i miss the 11;30 bus...
...but just a 1/2 hr earlier ko would have been fine.

I can't believe they insist on playing the games at BMO still - that's at least a 25 minute walk for me. It would be a lot more convenient if they played in my backyard. Plus, I have real grass.

7:30pm is the ideal kick off time in my mind.

When it's on the hour the Eastbound GO train passengers will arrive after kick-off, and they will also leave early to catch the train home.

Most fans are not going to show up and hour early and wait an hour after to catch the whole game.

When the game starts on the half-hour, there's no rush for people and no worries about possible train delays.

Access to the GO Train is one of the advantages having BMO Field at the Ex. TFC should schedule their games to coincide with the GO.

personally i like top of the hour starts... I catch that train that gets me to BMO at the top of the hour -- but I always come an hour early. So if it's an 8pm start, I get into the stadium just after gates open.

I love being there an hour early to soak up the atmosphere and watch warmups.

but i'm a student so timing doesn't really matter. :)
Generally I can't do any work on gamedays anyways... my mind wanders. i'm sure the day we are playing Montreal I'll be unable to think about anything else.

I wonder if there would be any point in appealing to GO to add an extra trains on the half-hour to and from these games (one from Whitby to Exhibition, and the other from Aldershot to Union).

By 2010 they are supposed to have these running anyway, so it's not like they aren't already thinking about it seriously.

any word on when tickets go on sale?

From the TFC website , linked with the dates of the Canadian Championship dates .

" The two games at BMO Field are included in season seat packages. Single game tickets will go on sale in early March " .

The later the better.. Couple pops after work and time to spare to get there comfortably. 7pm and I actually have to leave work early to be sure I'll make the game.

8pm is a good start time. Looks like Porter has some good rates on flights.

Depending on finances, may try to take a half day at work, then get the early flight in on the 18th and go strait to work...will need a hotel in that case though.

Hopefully our lovely travel team will be able to negotiate a promotion code!

I think it would cost a lot of money to have trains added to the 2009 schedule just for TFC games.

It is much easier for TFC to schedule their games on the half-hour.

Probably a long-shot.

the champions league qualifiers are during the week isnt that big of a deal look at europe when are the champions league match days.......oh yeah tues and weds because most league matchs take place on saturday's amd sundays. which is the same for MLS and the USL so it is just easier for them too do it mid week. I mean between the 3 teams there is probally not a weekend all season that one of them isnt playing (im not checking cause thats alot of work).

I noted above, that both Montreal and Toronto seem to be available June 13th - so why play on the 17th? Ironically though, it doesn't make much difference schedule-wise, given that Toronto has no games scheduled between June 6 and 24th.

Gold Cup or summat. Meh.Gold Cup is in July. There is the Confederations cup in June, but the only relevant team playing is the USA (given the lack of Brazilian, Spanish, Italian, Iraqi, Egyptian and New Zealand players) - so player impacts will be minimal.

Yes, so it IS in July. Well I'm fresh out of freshly answered answers. I'm beginning to think they actually do fear our away support.

I brought this up a while back, but it was deep in the off-season and I don't know if anyone saw it or not, so I'll mention it again:

The NCC is going to have to start to be played a year in advance, due to possible conflicts with Superliga. Since MLS clubs can no longer participate in both Superliga and the Champions League, we need to know if we have qualified for the CL or not so MLS knows which clubs will be going to Superliga by the end of the preceding season.

The way it is now, if we were to finish in a Superliga qualification spot, no one would know until the end of the next year's NCC tournament where we would be playing, and I don't think that's good for anyone in terms of organization.

Actually Go is not a major problem for me, Greyhound and Via rail are the joy killers...Vias last train towards brantford leaves union 7pm nothing later, so that kills the concert/sports goers from using that mode of transportation. Greyhound leaves the Bay street terminal for Brantford at 10:30pm...so getting from BMO to bay in less the 1/2 is almost impossible.
If greyhound went back to the 11;30pm trip to Brantford that would
ease a lot of aggro.

i know the huge majority of TFC fans find 7:30 a better fit with less traffic then 7:00, 7 start is a nightmare with rush hour traffic. And Go Train times are much better to. When the game starts at 7:00 half the stadium shows up 15-20 minutes into the game. I guess its just the few people who come much further distances that find 7 better. You gotta move closer to the city is all :p
